Equal Opportunity
Farook College (Autonomous) is founded on the belief that education is a fundamental right accessible to all, regardless of background, abilities, or community. To uphold this commitment, the college has established the Equal Opportunity Cell to ensure that every student – irrespective of caste, community, gender, or physical ability – has equal access to college opportunities. Equal Opportunity Cell serves as a statutory umbrella organization overseeing various cells, including the SC/ST Cell, OBC Cell, Minority Cell, and the Cell for Persons with Disabilities. Its primary purpose is to ensure inclusive, equitable, and high-quality higher education for the above-mentioned socio-economically disadvantaged groups.
A. Equal Opportunity Cell for Minority Students
The Minority Cell aims to empower minority communities within the college. It primarily assists students from minority communities in their academic pursuits. The cell supports their curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular development, promoting educational equity for minority students.
B. Equal Opportunity Cell for OBC Students
The OBC Welfare section is dedicated to the well-being of students from Other Backward Classes (OBC). It informs students about various beneficial schemes and provides guidance on how to access these opportunities.
C. Divyangjan Cell (Equal Opportunity Cell for Persons with Disabilities)
The Cell for Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan Cell) aims to ensure equal opportunities for differently-abled individuals, protecting their rights and fostering an inclusive environment. The cell works to fulfil the constitutional goal of equal citizenship for persons with disabilities by creating policies and schemes that promote their full participation in campus life. It also sensitizes the college community to respect and cooperate with differently- bled individuals.
D. Equal Opportunity Cell for SC/ST Students
The SC/ST Cell is designed to empower students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). The college actively facilitates financial support for these students through government agencies and other resources. The cell ensures equal educational opportunities by offering additional coaching and remedial classes to help SC/ST students excel academically.
