The department is playing a pivotal role in upholding our culture and tradition. It is as old as the college. Malayalam was offered as a dual core subject along with sociology since 1983 at the Under graduate level. In 1990, in keeping with the changing scenario, it was converted into a single main course with Kerala culture and Journalism as complementary courses. Creditable initiatives are exploring potential of New Media for Digital Learning in Malayalam language and literature, a study on the local legends and myths in the area. Our social commitment is reflected in special initiatives for upliftment of Dalits and visually impaired students.
