The department of statistics was established in 1982 and is currently offering B. Sc., M. Sc. programmes in Statistics and is a Research center in Statistics. The UG programme in Statistics is notable for its combination with Actuarial Science and Mathematics. The PG programme in Statistics gives special focus on Survival analysis, Time Series Analysis and Operations Research. The department is also conducting a certificate programme in ‘Data Analysis using Excel and R’. The department offers Statistical Consultancy Services to the needy people. The former heads of the departments are Prof. C H Yousuf, Dr. P. Anilkumar and Dr. N V Samiyya.

The Statistical Consultancy Service was formed in the Department of Statistics in association with Statistics Alumni Association , Farook College in 2015. Statistical analyses of academic projects of Ph.D, M.Phil, M.Tech, MSc, MBA, M.Pharm, etc are taken up and completed successfully. Earlier in 2012-13, the Statistical Survey for Estimation of Coconut Production in Kozhikode District, a project of Coconut Development Board, Kerala was partly taken up by the department and was completed successfully by the degree final year students as part of their project. The Coconut Survey has been continued for the following three academic years; 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17. Further, in 2017 the Project for Assessment of Survival Percentage of Saplings distributed by Social Forestry, Kozhikode Division was also entrusted with the department and completed successfully.
