The Post Graduate and Research Department of Statistics, Farook College (Autonomous) organized a one day seminar under DBT Star College Scheme on 31^st July 2023. The topic of theseminar is Application of Statistics in Biomedicine. The seminar mainly aims at providing a basic idea of statistical tools in the syllabus correlated to biological/epidemiological/health variables to the first year undergraduate students. The students of B.Sc and M.Sc Statistics participated in the seminar. In addition, the research scholars and faculty members also attended the seminar.

The inaugural function started at 9.30 am at the Audio Visual Theatre. Dr. Haritha N Haridas welcomed the gathering. Dr. Abdul Rasheed K. V., Head of the Department presided over the function. Dr. K. A. Aysha Swapna, Principal inaugurated the seminar. Dr. Shalina Begum, DBTSTAR College Coordinator felicitated. Mr.Fazil K. delivered the vote of thanks.

The first technical session started at 10.00 am. Dr. Jagathnath Krishna K.M., AssociateProfessor in Biostatistics, Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram was the Resource Person. He explained various statistical tools starting from central tendency measures to kurtosis measures with various examples. After the tea break the second session started at 11.30 am. The second session was also handled by Dr. Jagathnath Krishna K. M. In this session he explained correlation and regression. He pointed out the differences between multiple regression, logistic regression and Cox regression using a real data set. The seminar ended at 1.30 pm with the vote of thanks by Ms. Ashlin Varkey, Research Scholar.
