A training workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Trauma Management was conducted on 7th July 2022 by the Department of Psychology, Farook College (Autonomous) at UG seminar hall from 9 am to 1 pm. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Muneer M.P. and Mr. Rajeesh K.P., ASTER MIMS, Calicut with three others of American Heart Association (AHA). Basic Life Support, or BLS, generally refers to the type of care that first-responders, healthcare providers and public safety professionals provide anyone who is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway. This workshop focused on :
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Important early use of an AED
- Effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
- Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
More than 60 students actively participated in the workshop. Hands on session were provided for each and every student. At the end, certificates were also provided.
