The Department of Chemistry, Farook College (Autonomous), successfully organised RAASA-26, a two-day Chemistry Fest aimed at introducing the fascinating world of chemistry to students through interactive demonstrations, competitions, exhibitions, and hands-on learning experiences. More than 1,000 students from various schools and colleges participated in the event.
RAASA-26 provided an engaging platform for students to explore chemistry beyond the conventional classroom. The fest featured interactive sessions and demonstrations on Cosmetic Chemistry, Fun and Facts in Chemistry, and Separation Techniques in Chemistry, offering participants an opportunity to discover the relevance of chemistry in everyday life.
As part of the DBT STAR and RUSA initiatives, demonstrations on the working and applications of various sophisticated laboratory instruments were conducted. Students were given an opportunity to observe the equipment closely and understand their principles of operation and applications in chemical analysis and research.
The fest also included a variety of competitions designed to encourage scientific curiosity, creativity, communication skills, and teamwork. Quiz, Debate, Face Painting, and Project Presentation competitions attracted enthusiastic participation from students. One of the major attractions of RAASA-26 was the Murder-Solving Puzzle, which challenged participants to apply logical reasoning, observation, and scientific thinking to solve a mystery.
The Food Safety Department, Government of Kerala, also participated in the fest and showcased the facilities and techniques available for food testing through its Mobile Food Testing Unit. The demonstration helped students understand how scientific methods are used to assess the quality and safety of food products.
With its blend of science, creativity, experimentation, and entertainment, RAASA-26 transformed chemistry into an exciting and interactive experience. The enthusiastic participation of students from different educational institutions highlighted the growing interest among young learners in chemistry and scientific exploration.
RAASA-26 thus served as an effective platform for promoting scientific temper, curiosity, innovation, and experiential learning, reaffirming the Department of Chemistry's commitment to taking science beyond the classroom and inspiring the next generation of learners and researchers
