Reported on: 2025-02-20

Kozhikode: Farook College (Autonomous) reaffirmed its commitment to excellence by securing the highest A++ grade with a remarkable CGPA of 3.64 in the fourth cycle of NAAC accreditation. This prestigious recognition places Farook College among the top-ranked institutions in Kerala, underscoring its unwavering dedication to academic and institutional quality.

The accreditation follows a comprehensive evaluation by a NAAC peer team comprising esteemed academicians: Prof. Sugam Anand (Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra), Prof. M.D. Shirsat (Director, Centre for Advanced Sensor Technology, Maharashtra), and Dr. Amudha (Principal, STET Women’s College, Tiruvarur). Their assessment covered key institutional parameters, including curriculum, teaching and learning, research, infrastructure, student support, placements, governance, and best practices.

The team lauded Farook College for its outstanding academic and social initiatives. Notable among these are the Emerging Frontiers in Chemical Science conference series, its distinction as Kerala’s highest scholarship-receiving institution, innovative Indian Knowledge System programmes, the in-house ERP FAIMS, and its contributions to cultural and fine arts. Additionally, the college’s impactful social outreach programmes, including the Dialysis Centre and the Student Initiative for Palliative Care, were recognized for their significant community service.

Farook College has consistently upheld its status as a premier institution, maintaining top accreditation ratings in all previous NAAC cycles. The institution earned a 5-star rating in 2001, an 'A' grade in 2009, an A+ in 2016, and has now attained the highest A++ grade. As the largest residential campus in Kerala to achieve this distinction, Farook College offers 22 undergraduate, 16 postgraduate, and 11 doctoral programmes, serving a vibrant academic community of 3,800 students and 222 research scholars.

Recognized as a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by the UGC in 2004, Farook College gained autonomy in 2015 and secured AICTE approval in 2024. As a mentor institution under the UGC’s Paramarsh scheme, it has successfully guided six colleges towards high NAAC accreditation.

The college also holds DST-FIST status, having received funding three times, and has been awarded A+ in DBT STAR for its progress in performance. Furthermore, it has received ₹5 crore under the RUSA scheme, reinforcing its reputation for excellence in scientific research and education. The Ford Foundation had awarded a major grant to Farook College as part of its Campus Diversity initiative, further strengthening its global academic and institutional presence. The college is also the proud recipient of the Moulana Azad National Literacy Award and the R. Sanker Award, recognizing its contributions to literacy and higher education excellence.

The latest NAAC accreditation serves as a testament to Farook College’s continuous pursuit of academic excellence, research innovation, and holistic education, further strengthening its position as a leader in higher education in Kerala and beyond.
