Cineverse 2.0, the second edition of the two-day film festival organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Farook College commenced on Wednesday. This year’s festival serves as a grand tribute to the legendary actor, director and screenwriter Sreenivasan, celebrating his unparalleled contribution to Malayalam cinema. The event was inaugurated by National Award-winning director Anand Ekarshi, who was joined by faculty members and students for a ceremony that blended academic insight with a deep passion for the silver screen.
In a thought-provoking inaugural address, Ekarshi notably advocated for a more inclusive industry, stating his desire to see a rise in the number of women filmmakers to bring fresh perspectives to Indian cinema. Prior to the formal session, which included welcomes from HOD Ms. Maureen T P and Vice Principal Dr. Abdul Jabbar M., the festival’s intellectual journey began with a screening of Ekarshi’s acclaimed film, Aattam. This was followed by a deep-dive panel discussion featuring the director, writer Noora V, and moderator Mr. Muhammed Musthafa.

The first day of the festival continued with a screening of the film Happy, maintaining the high energy of the "Cineverse" creative journey. As the tribute to Sreenivasan continues into the second day, the festival is set to screen the cult classic Vadakkunokkiyanthram on February 5. The event remains a vital platform for students to engage with industry experts and explore the social dynamics of cinema.
