"Creativity should be for social integrity": Jamal Fayes

Jamal Fayez, the leading Arab short story writer and novelist from Qatar, expressed that art and literature should not be only for enjoyment but also for nurturing social integrity. He was speaking at the inaugural session of the Fifth International Arabic Conference organized by the PG & Research Department of Arabic at Farook College on January 9, 10, and 11, 2024.

The organizing committee honored former teachers, research guides who served the Arabic department throughout the ages, and fifty-one researchers who completed research in the department.
Dr. Mohammed Salim Khalfan Hamid Al Musallami (Assistant Professor, A'Sharqiyah University, Oman), Dr. Saif Salim Fadhil Aboud Al Maskari (Assistant Professor, A'Sharqiyah University, Oman), Dr. Mahmood Hamed Thani al Rawahi (Collaborating Professor, A'Sharqiyah University, Oman), Dr. Majid Hamed Khamis Salim Al Alawi (Assistant Professor, University of Nizwa, Oman), and Dr. Abdallah Mubarak Salim Al Saadi (Assistant Professor, Sharqiyah University, Oman) presented research papers.
Dr. K. A. Aysha Swapna (Principal, Farook College) delivered the keynote address. Dr. Yunoos Salim (HOD, PG, and Research Department of Arabic, Farook College) presided over the session.

Prof. (Dr.) A.B. Moideen Kutty (Dean, Faculty of Language & Literature & Head, Department of Arabic, University of Calicut), Prof. M. Moideen Kutty (Former Faculty Member), Dr. K. Jamaludeen (Former Research Guide), and Dr. Mahamood V. N. (First Researcher of the Department) spoke on the occasion. Dr. Muhammad Abid U. P. (Convener of the Conference) welcomed the gathering, and Dr. Abbas K. P. (Convener of the Conference) proposed a vote of thanks. Around 300 academicians, researchers, and students from various colleges and universities participated in the Arabic Conference.
