Farook College (Autonomous),Kozhikode has been awarded the DBT-Star College Support Scheme by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.  The Department has sanctioned Rs 1.23 crore for strengthening of Life Science and Biotechnology Education and training at Undergraduate Level under Star College Scheme for the college. Dr. K.M. Naseer, Principal, said the institution is recognized with the status for its overall contributions and performance in the field of science and technology. 

The STAR college scheme has been initiated by the DBT to support colleges and universities offering undergraduate education to improve science teaching. The programme aims to improve the overall development of UG teaching through providing financial support for procuring additional laboratory equipments and consumables, organizing faculty development programmes, interdisciplinary research activities, additional experiments from the existing syllabus etc.

Departments under the faculty of science of the college-Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science,  Mathematics & Statistics, Physics and Zoology is supported under this scheme for 3 years.
