The Staff Club of Farook College organized a Freedom Talk on the topic "The Idea of India" on 14th August 2024, by Dr. Abdul Razak, Executive Member of the Kerala Council for Historical Research and former Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Calicut. He delivered an enlightening lecture, exploring the complex and multifaceted nature of India's identity and its historical and contemporary significance.
Dr. Abdul Razak talked on the need to uphold the cultural, linguistic, ethnic and social diversity of India and its polyphonic nature since ancient times. India has been a land to multiple religions and people enjoy religious freedom. He also stressed the need to stand for the rights enshrined in Indian constitution that safeguards every Indian citizen.
The event began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Muhammed Yoosuf, Secretary of the Staff Club. Dr. Aysha Swapna K. A, Principal of Farook College, delivered the Presidential Address, underscoring the importance of engaging with the idea of India in today's socio-political landscape. The presence of Vice Principals Dr. Sajith E. K and Dr. Abdul Jabbar added gravitas to the occasion.
Dr. Muhammedali E.K. proposed the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for the insightful talk and the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the event.
Significantly, this was the inaugural event in the newly constructed Diamond Jubilee Seminar Hall, marking a milestone for Farook College. The state-of-the-art venue provided an excellent setting for the first of many intellectual and cultural discussions to come.
