One Day Seminar on Stochastic Methods organized by PG and Research Department of Statistics

On the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Farook College (Autonomous), PG and Research Department of Statistics organized a “One Day Seminar on Stochastic Methods” on 18th January 2023 at the Audio Visual Theatre, Farook College. The seminar focused on stochastic methods and their applications. The inaugural session commenced at 9.30 am. Dr. M. Manoharan, Senior Professor in Statistics & Member Syndicate, University of Calicut inaugurated the programme. Dr. R. M. Juvairiyya, the Head of the Department presided over the function. Dr. P. Anilkumar, Dr. Shefeeq T, Dr. Aysha Swapna K, Dr. Haritha N Haridas and Dr. Abdul Rasheed K.V felicitated the programme.
Dr. M. Manoharan delivered the Keynote address. He ignited the audience on stochastic methods and data. His talk explored various applications of Statistics and its difference from Data Science.
Dr. N. Balakrishna, Senior Professor in Statistics, CUSAT, handled the second session and his talk was on stochastic time series. He explained the connection between stochastic methods and time series data.
Dr. V. M. Chacko, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Statistics, St. Thomas College (Autonomous), Thrissur, handled the third session and delivered a talk on Importance and Joint Importance Measures for Multistate Systems.
Dr. Jenson P.O, Principal (Retired), St. Thomas College (Autonomous), Thrissur, handled the final session and gave an introduction to Queueing models. He explained different type of queues.
The programme concluded around 4.00 pm. Dr. Abdul Rasheed K.V proposed the vote of thanks.
