A seminar on "Insects and Nature" was organized by the Department of Botany, Farook College, in association with Sahyadri Club, under the DBT-STAR college scheme, on 7^th December, 2023. The chief guest of the seminar was Vijayakumar Blathur, a renowned environmentalist, writer, and columnist.

The invited lecture on ' Insects and Nature was held at 1.00 pm. Mrs. Naseeha C.P., Assistant professor, Department of Botany has delivered the welcome address. The HoD, Dr. Kishore Kumar K., introduced the chief guest. Afterwards, Vijayakumar Blathur delivered a lecture on the topic. The session was really interesting. The talk was more interactive. Interesting topics like evolution, co evolution, camouflage and mimicry seen in nature was discussed mainly citing with familiar examples. A total of 84 students from 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd year BSc Botany classes, 5 Faculty members and 2 Lab Assistants of the department attended the programme.

The students were actively involved in the discussion on the amazing factors of insects, their life and contributions to the nature. Following the lecture, the session was opened for discussion, when students clarified their doubts. Later Ms. Fida Fathima C.K (6^th sem Botany) and Ms. Anfida (2^nd sem Botany) gave their feedbacks about the lecture. The session came to an end at 3.30 pm with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Misna K. (4^th sem Botany) who is the Botany Association Secretary 2023-24.
