The Post Graduate and Research Department of Statistics, Farook College (Autonomous) organized a one day seminar under DBT Star College Scheme on 7th October 2023. The topic of the seminar is Statistical Tools for Dealing Data. The seminar mainly aimed at providing   a basic idea of statistical tools used in the analysis of different types of data to the under graduate and post graduate students of Statistics.

The inaugural function started at 8:45 am at the Statistical Computing Lab of Statistics Department. Mr. Fazil. K welcomed the gathering. Dr. Abdul Rasheed K. V., Head of the Department presided over the function. Dr. K. A. Aysha Swapna, Principal inaugurated the seminar. Dr. Shalina Begum, DBT STAR College Coordinator felicitated. Dr. Haritha N Haridas. delivered the vote of thanks.

The first technical session started at 9.00 am. Dr. Girish Babu M., Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Statistics, Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode was the Resource Person in all the four sessions. He explained the scope and challenges of statistical analysis in various sectors in India and abroad. He classified different types of data and mention the importance of preparing a good questionnaire. After the tea break the second  session started at 10:45 am. In the second session he explained the main steps in preparing a good questionnaire. He introduced the softwares like Mathematica and Mapple which is new to the students.  The third session started after lunch at 1:00 pm. The third and fourth sessions was hands on training using computer. The resource person uses the software SPSS and teach how to enter data, how to deal data and how to analyses the data. The last session started at 2:30 pm and the seminar ended at 4:00 pm with the vote of thanks by Ms. Hima K.C, Post graduate student.
