Research Advisory Committee

The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) at Farook College (Autonomous), Kozhikode, is dedicated to fostering a vibrant research culture in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences. This committee plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting faculty and student researchers, promoting an academic environment aligned with the college’s vision of impactful, ethical, and innovative scholarship. Through strategic guidance, funding facilitation, and upholding rigorous research standards, the RAC advances quality research across disciplines.

OBJECTIVES

  • Promote Research Excellence: Encourage high-quality, original research that contributes significantly to academic and societal advancement.
  • Support Emerging Researchers: Provide guidance and mentorship to early-career researchers, helping them develop strong research skills and ethical standards.
  • Enhance Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Facilitate cross-departmental and interdisciplinary research projects that address complex, real-world problems.
  • Facilitate Funding Opportunities: Identify and assist in securing internal and external funding sources for research initiatives and projects.
  • Ensure Ethical Compliance: Oversee that all research activities comply with ethical guidelines, protecting the integrity of the research process.
  • Strengthen Institutional Research Capacity: Develop resources and support systems to increase the research output and impact of the college.
STRUCTURE OF THE COMMITTEE

The RAC is constituted within each Research Department, including:

  • Chairperson: Principal of Farook College (Autonomous)
  • University Nominee: Appointed by the University
  • Subject Expert: A distinguished expert from the department, nominated by the college and approved by the University
  • Director of Research Promotion Council: Farook College
  • Head of Department: Overseeing the research discipline
  • Research Supervisors: Faculty members serving as research supervisors

RESPONSIBILITIES

The RAC oversees essential aspects of the research process, including:

  • Admissions to the Ph.D. programme
  • Monitoring the progress of research scholars
  • Approving changes in research topics
  • Managing conversions between part-time, full-time, JRF, and SRF roles
  • Reviewing pre-submission of theses
  • Coordinating the open defense and its proceedings

Through these functions, the RAC ensures a supportive and structured environment for research scholars, helping to maintain high standards of academic excellence and encouraging contributions that make a meaningful impact
