Research Promotion Policy
INTRODUCTION
Farook College encourages high quality research resulting in high impact publications, patents and national and international level paper presentations. The college intents to promote multidisciplinary research among the faculties of various disciplines and also in collaboration with the faculties of institutes of national/international reputation
VISION
To grow itself in to a global center of knowledge production and dissemination; contribute to higher level of scientific understanding, impart social values and generate services to humanity at large.
OBJECTIVES
Research is an integral part of teaching learning activity in Farook College and the college assures that knowledge updates take places through creation of research aptitude in students. With a lively environment Farook College is committed to provide support to research and extension activities which match the vision of the college. The following are the major research objectives of the institution.

To promote quality research and education of interdisciplinary nature among the faculties and students of the college.

To encourage application oriented innovative research coupled with human values.

To improve the research capabilities of the faculties and students by providing intellectual, financial and infrastructural support.

To provide better environment and support to faculties of the colleges for collaborative research within the college, institutions of international importance and also with industries.

To create a hub of experts in divers subjects to provide consultancy services to the external agencies.

To encourage collaboration, entrepreneurship and out research activities that support the vision of the college.
There shall be three components for the promotion, monitoring and standardization of research in the institution. They are Research Promotion Council, Research Assessment Committee and Research Ethics Committee.
RESEARCH PROMOTION COUNCIL (RPC)
There shall be a research promotion council headed by director. The council shall give necessary recommendations to the college for the up gradation of infrastructural facilities for the improvement of research quality. The Research Promotion Council shall encourage team work among the faculties and research scholars. They shall also sensitize the faculty and the students about the latest trends and frontiers of research and conduct regular awareness programs on research funding and financing. They shall also provide training to the budding scholars on methodology and data collection/ modern experimental techniques. The council shall prepare the guidelines for research leading to PhD in various departments of the college.
The constitution of the committee is as follows:

The college principal shall be the chairman and a senior faculty member will be appointed as the director.

Five senior members of faculty who are research supervisors will be nominated by the principal as members.

RESEARCH ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE
A research assessment committee shall be put up in place to monitor the research conducted by the faculties and students of the College. It shall provide trainings in research proposal writings with view to increase the project participation.
The committee shall also be responsible for the review and vetting of the research proposals submitted by the faculties and the students of the institution. It shall also be responsible for evaluation of the ongoing research projects of the faculty availing funds for research from various agencies. The committee shall also recommend the principal on various individual research funding extended by the institution. In addition the committee shall organize mandatory-half yearly progress evaluation of research scholars.

RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEE
Farook College gives utmost care to the adherence of research ethical guidelines provided by university grants commission (UGC). To monitor the adherence of these ethical guidelines the college has established Research ethical committee and this committee shall monitor research involving human and animal subjects.
The college is committed to maintain originality of research carried out by the faculties and research scholars and post graduate students. The college insists plagiarism check of PG and Ph.D. theses. A certificate of plagiarism check is mandatory for the submission of PhD and masters theses. The plagiarism check software is made available at the College library. Violation of research ethical guidelines shall be considered as serious and offence. The research ethics committee takes necessary steps to ensure that the research conducted by the faculties and students of the college is according to the ethical guidelines. The committee shall draw policies in this regard with consultations with experts and instructions from the statutory bodies. The committee shall conduct enquiry on any ethical violation and a report will be given to the principal.

RESEARCH ETHICAL GUIDELINES
The college is committed to follow good ethical practices in research to create a confidence in public on the research conducted at the college. The research ethics committee lay down the necessary ethical guidelines for the research in Farook College. The research ethics committee periodically monitors the research and ensures the adherence of ethical guidelines.

The research carried out at the college in the form of dissertations, theses, articles, book chapter and books must have the highest level of academic integrity and originality as per the directives of the College and the policy of University Grants commission for academic integrity and prevention of plagiarism in higher educational institutions.

The research from the college should respect the privacy and dignity of all the participants and it should not cause any harm to the individuals, animals and environment. It should give positive contribution to the society and the faculties and students should refrain from research which is against the integrity and autonomy of research.

All research conducted at the college must take adequate precaution in minimizing the risk and hazards to the individual and the environment.

All information provided by the participants must be treated confidential and requires prior permission to reveal the information regarding the participants.

Research must not cause any kind of loss to the participants in any form, e.g. financial, intellectual or as any other resources. The relationship among the participants must be purely on academic basis and must adhere to the principles of non-exploitation.

All the participants of research have responsibility to maintain the secrecy of the research and refrain from any kind of misuse of results coming out of the research.

The researchers must respect the rights of the participants and the contribution of all the participants must be properly acknowledged.

The principal investigator must delegate the juniors, scholars and students under his supervision based on their qualification, capabilities and experiences. The principal investigator shall make adequate change in the delegation of the team members for the better performance and prosperity of the research team.

All the research team members have right to know and document the aspects of the project and the ownership of the data. The members of the team must inform/must take prior permission if necessary from the principal investigator/research supervisor for any extension of the research problems which is conducted in the research group.

Publications in any form coming out of the research group should include the name of the principal investigator/research supervisor and the name of the research center.
