7th EFCS and the 4th International Conference, EFCS-2023 during December 19-21, 2023.

Chemistry has been a central subject in the college. The Department of Chemistry was started in the year 1957 and it initiated a Master’s programme in the year 1969. When the University of Calicut was established in 1968, its Department of Chemistry functioned initially from the Farook College campus.

As a part of the endeavour to support chemical/material science education, we initiated a conference series named, “Emerging Frontiers in Chemical Sciences, EFCS”, under the chairmanship of Prof. T. Pradeep, IIT Madras, one of our prestigious alumni.

The first International Conference, EFCS 2017 was held during September 23-25, 2017 and it was inaugurated by eminent scientist, Prof. C. N. R. Rao. EFCS committee decided to conduct the international event every two years, interspaced with a national event. We had many eminent scholars participating at EFCS over the years. They include, Prof. Graham Cooks, Prof. Thomas Thundat, Dr. S. Sivaram, Prof. P. Balaram, Prof. R. Desiraju, Prof. N. Sathyamurthy, Prof. S. Chandrasekaran, Prof. E. D. Jemmis, Prof. A. Ajayaghosh, Prof. A. Sampath, Prof. T. P. Radhakrishnan, Prof. I.N.N Nampboothiri, Prof. Sabu Thomas, Prof. Chandrabhas Narayana, Prof. Shigeyuki Yagi, Prof. Subi George, Prof. Mahesh Hariharan, Prof. Shobhana Narasimhan, Prof. K. Vijayamohan K. Pillai, Prof. Vasudevan Biju, Prof. Tatsuya Tsukuda, Prof. Jianping Xie, Prof. R. B. Sunoj, Dr. Ashish Lele, Prof. Rajnish kumar, Prof. Arun Mohan Isloor, Prof. Prakash P. Neelakandan, Dr. Jayaramulu Kolleboyina, Dr. Rositha Kuniyil  and Dr. Ananya Baksi.

We have decided to conduct the 7th EFCS and the 4th International Conference, EFCS-2023 during December 19-21, 2023.
