This discipline of science also deals with the origin and development of landscapes, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, glaciers, groundwater resources, and the interaction between humans and the planets. All this information is crucial and helps them to understand the reasons behind climate change and its consequences. Various Government and private organizations like Geological Survey of India (GSI), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Central Groundwater Board (CGWB), State Groundwater Department, Coal India Limited (CIL), Public Works Department (PWD), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), etc. were providing ample job opportunities to Geology graduates. The 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme (10 semesters) in Geology aims to impart comprehensive knowledge on Earth Science and natural resource management based on various branches of Geology along with their application. The programme offers Physics and Chemistry as allied core courses.</p>
