National Career Conclave Alchemy 2023: Empowering Careers in Psychology

Farook College, in collaboration with Team Incubation, hosted Kerala's largest residential gathering in psychology, the National Career Conclave 'Alchemy 2023'. Held at the prestigious Yousef Al Saqer Auditorium, the event brought together over 400 delegates from various colleges across Kerala. The two-day programme featured insightful sessions conducted by eminent personalities in the field of psychology.

The event kicked off with registration at 9 a.m., followed by the inaugural session at 10 a.m., featuring a warm welcome note by Dr. Nisha K., Head of the Department of Psychology. Dr. P. A. Baby Shari, Professor of Psychology at the University of Calicut, inaugurated the event and led the session titled "Gateway to Mind and Behavior: Why Opt for Psychology".

The day continued with a session by clinical psychologist and mental health advisor, Dr. Baijesh Ramesh, discussing "On Becoming a Clinical Psychologist". The day concluded with a session on "Think, Innovate: Start-ups in Psychology" by Dr. V. Premanand, Associate Professor at St. Agnes Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Mangalore. The highlight of the day was the panel discussion, featuring 12 accomplished panelists from prestigious universities across India, providing valuable perspectives and advice for aspiring psychologists. The day concluded with cultural programmes, showcasing diverse talents from different colleges.

The second day commenced with a session on "Positive Psychology and the Science of Happiness" by Dr. Leemamol Mathew, Associate Professor of Psychology at Christ University, Bangalore. Following this, Shiju J. Joseph, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, delved into "Psyche in the Times of Social Media: Evolution, Curation, and Surveillance". The seventh event of the day featured a talk on "Psychology in the Age of Data Revolution" by Mohammed Riyas, a distinguished psychologist and career counselor. The valedictory session, led by Ms. Aysha Swapna, IQAC Coordinator, brought the event to a close at 4:00 PM.
